Canciones Sefardíes
One of Borja Mariño's most successful song cycles, the Four Ancient Songs on Sephardic texts were premiered by Patricia Blanco and the composer in 2000. The four songs use the four modes of ancient music and their texts, collected by the musicologist Susana Weich, represent four vital moments: marriage, death, a lullaby and a children’s song for playing.
They were later orchestrated; first by the conductor Alejandro Jassán who offered them in concert at the Spanish National Auditorium in Madrid in 2013 together with the famous soprano Saioa Hernández. After that, the composer arranged an orchestration of the four songs with an expanded version of the last one.

Uno de los ciclos de canciones más exitosos de Borja Mariño, las Cuatro canciones antiguas sobre textos sefardíes fueron estrenadas por Patricia Blanco y el compositor en el año 2000. Las cuatro canciones giran en torno a los cuatros modos de la música antigua y los textos, recogidos por la musicóloga Susana Weich, representan cuatro momentos vitales: el casamiento, la muerte, una nada y una canción de juegos.
Posteriormente fueron orquestadas, primero por el director de orquesta Alejandro Jassán que las ofreció en concierto en el Auditorio Nacional de Madrid en 2013 junto a la famosa soprano Saioa Hernández y más tarde el mismo compositor realizó una orquestación de las cuatro canciones con una versión ampliada del último tema.
